2019 Pledge Letter from TINW President 


Thank you for all the support you provide our sacred community at Temple Israel throughout the year!

Your active membership supports our synagogue in many very tangible ways and we have an exciting year ahead! The coming year is full of meaningful worship and educational opportunities, engaging programming and plenty of time to build relationships with each other and have fun!

We achieve all of this with careful fiscal management and we are asking members to pledge the 2019 fair share amount of $2,900. This amount from each family ensures that all of Temple Israel’s basic needs are met. We gratefully accept pledges that provide a higher level of support to Temple Israel from members who are able and interested in doing so.  

Our tradition teaches that all Jews are responsible for one another. Money should never be an impediment to membership. If membership is challenging at the full pledge amount because of economic hardship, please complete the short Application for Financial Adjustment (within the 2019 Pledge Form). Anyone who has received reductions of fair share pledges in prior years is asked to increase their pledge whenever possible.

There are several payment alternatives for your annual pledge contribution. You can log into your account on to pay by electronic bank transfers (ACH) or credit card or you can mail a check to the Temple’s bookkeepers Kesef Accounting Service. See the info sheet that follows to explain these in greater detail or contact Robin or 914.271.4705 x121 in the Temple Office to discuss your options further. Please remember that a 2019 Pledge is needed before we can complete your children's enrollment in CJL this fall (register for CJL here). 

New for the 2019-20 season, we will be engaging a security firm to help us maintain a safe space during the synagogue's busiest times each week. These times include Shabbat evening and morning services and when CJL is in session, as well as certain large gatherings throughout the year. A Security Assessment of $97 will be added to each pledge to support this very important service. We are also pursuing grants that will allow us to further improve the security of our building.

TINW Payment Information Sheet

We are constantly evolving our processes to make your data and finance related interactions with us easier. Last year we introduced our new website and with it, the ability for each member to manage their family’s accounts and financial transactions with Temple Israel. 

Making a Pledge: New in 2019

This year we are enabling pledges directly from our website by using the 2019 Pledge Form. Once you have made a Pledge it is payable by logging in to your account to choose a payment type and preferred timing. If you need help setting up your Account Password, contact Michelle Minoff, for assistance. 

How do I set up online payments for my pledge?

  1. Make a pledge using one of the purple buttons in this letter.
  2. Log in to your account by clicking the "Log In" button. Now click "Welcome your name" in the grey box on the upper right of your screen and choosing"My Account"
  3. Choose "My Transactions" and then "Submit a Payment"
  4. Using the "Unpaid" column check off the item(s) you would like to pay
  5. Choose how many payments you would like to use in the "Pay this Amount"field and include any notes that might be useful in "Payment Notes". Click"Continue to Payment"
  6. Choose your payment type and then "Confirm and Continue"
  7. Complete your credit card or ACH-echeck information and click "Pay Now

How does each payment option work?

*NEW* Pay by ACH-echeck: Follow the instructions above. In step 6 choose "ACH-echeck". You will be asked to complete your bank account number and routing number (found on your paper checks). This creates an electronic check from your bank account to TINW and typically takes 1-2 days to process.

Pay by Credit Card: Follow the instructions above. In step 6 choose "Credit Card". You will complete your credit card number and CVV. When using a Credit Card you will be asked if you would like to add the convenience fee (this is the fee charged back to TINW for accepting credit card payments).

Pay by PayPal: No longer accepted as of June 30, 2019

Pay by Paper Check: All paper checks should be mailed directly to TINW’s bookkeepers at the address below for quick and accurate processing.

**All paper checks MUST include a note indicating where these funds should be applied (e.g. Rabbi's Discretionary Fund, Pledge 19-20, etc.)**
