Brotherhood and Sisterhood invite you to join us for a classic movie that speaks to our challenging times today as perhaps no other:  “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”.

“Mr. Smith” is the story of what happens when a well-meaning scout leader is appointed to the U.S. Senate to fill a vacancy, is expected to fall in line with the political machine pushing a big project, but decides instead to take on the machine, the project, and much of Washington all at the same time. The film’s portrayal of Washington culture, the role of the press, and the courage of one man to take on the system is as relevant today as it was when it premiered decades ago.

A wonderful combination of comedy and drama, “Mr. Smith” stars the great James Stewart and Jean Arthur, with featured roles from veteran character actors Thomas Mitchell, Claude Rains and Edward Arnold. We are very pleased to note that “Mr. Smith” is also the first film to be shown in our classic movie series directed by the legendary Frank Capra.
