Director of Community Engagement

Duties, Responsibilities and Functions

a.    The DOCE is a full time position, comprising of a traditional 40 hour work week. 
b.    Although the DOCE ultimately reports to the Temple President, the DOCE’s day-to-day role will be directed by the Rabbi, as the lead administrator of temple staff, and will receive administrative guidance and oversight from the Temple Administrator as well. 
c.    The DOCE will focus on creating connections and community for current, new and prospective members through innovative programming and experiences. 
d.    The DOCE shall perform their job responsibilities in a manner that is personable, and which demonstrates excellent writing skills and proficiency in current and novel online technologies, including the ability to utilize social media to build relationships both within and outside of the temple community. 
e.    The DOCE will utilize creativity and leadership skills to develop and implement innovative programs and initiatives that are aligned with TINW’s vision statement. 
f.    The responsibilities of the DOCE include, but are not limited to the following:

(i) Communications 
• Overseeing TINW’s Social Media; 
• Playing an integral role in providing community-related content and outreach within TINW’s Newsletters; and 
• Assisting in TINW’s Branding Strategies. 
(ii) Membership 
• Fostering a warm, welcoming and engaging environment for all congregants; 
• Assisting with the integration of all new TINW members; 
• Developing and fostering relationships within the temple community; 
• Recruiting, coordinating and connecting volunteers to engage in temple activities; and 
• Engaging in social outreach 
(iii) Community Relations 
• Interacting with lay leaders to implement synagogues ongoing programming; 
• Designing initiatives to create a sense of community and involvement for all members; 
• Implementing strategies to build relationships with the broader community outside of TINW; and 
• Establishing lasting partnerships with local Jewish organizations and synagogues.
