On February 7, 2020 I will travel with the teens from our confirmation class to spend four days in Washington, D.C. We will join teens from congregations around the nation to learn about how Jewish values intersect with the most important public policy issues of our time, including climate change, gun violence prevention, human rights and economic justice.
The program, run by the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, begins with Shabbat dinner and services, and ends with the teens making presentations to congressional representatives on Capitol Hill on Monday. It is an empowering and transformational experience. I hope it will be the beginning of a lifetime of advocacy in the work of tikkun olam, repair of our world.
