Dear parents of the Path to Confirmation class:
t was great to see everyone back at CJL for this evening’s class. I spoke to the students about the forthcoming Rosh Hodesh/Shevet sessions, which will begin January 16 and last until the end of February.
We discussed a sugia (Talmudic passage) about “derech eretz,” meaning “way of the land,” or manners, and we had a few interesting discussion about what certain things meant or didn’t mean. We also discussed behavioral “agreements” that happen whether we are aware of them or not, as well as going along with the crowd but knowing when to speak your own truth if the crowd is doing something wrong.
Later, we played Gaga as a class and then with the confirmation class. It was really nice to have everyone back and have the chance to relax and play a lot, whether with hula hoops or in the Gaga game.
Next week, as I announced at the end of class, we will not start Rosh Hodesh and Shevet, but will have an early Tu Bishvat seder 4:30-5:30 and an ADL program on Anti-Semitism from 5:30-7pm.
