In 2022, we were proud to have been named by Westchester Magazine as a Top 5 Westchester-Based Podcast to listen. After 8.5 years and 343 episodes, the TINW Torah Study podcast has come to an end. The same material is presented in written form in our Substack blog.
Temple Israel's Rabbi Dan Polish leads our weekly Torah Study sessions. We are also fortunate to have occasional guest leaders throughout the year, as well as during the summer months. Our group is enhanced by a variety personal experiences and backgrounds - please feel free to join us and share yours!
If you would like to attend and are not already on the Torah Study list, please contact Michelle Cohen, Temple Administrator.
JOIN US SATURDAY MORNINGS on zoom
Join us for Torah Study every Saturday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 AM on Zoom. Sessions are typically led by Rabbi Dan Polish, and sometimes led by guests, but are always thought-provoking. We explore not only the weekly Parshah, but the full range of sacred texts, liturgy, as well as ancient and modern commentary that add depth and insight to the discussion. Who wrote the words we read in the Bible, and why? What were the socio-political underpinnings when these documents were written, and how are they relevant today? There is so much to learn, and we have a great time each week uncovering nuggets that add to our experience as Jews. This is not your parent's Bible class!
To receive the Zoom link through the Torah Study email list, please send your request to rabbi@tinw.org.

"A Face in the Crowd" starring Andy Griffith and Patricial Neal, Directed by Elia Kazan. From 1957, a powerful drama that showcases the talents of a remarkable cast, led by Andy Griffith in his screen debut, as you’ve never seen him before, and the great Patricia Neal. The story centers on Larry "Lonesome" Rhodes, a drifter who is discovered by the producer of a small-market radio program in rural northeast Arkansas, and who rises to great fame and influence on national television. In vividly illustrating the impact that TV can have on politics, the film is truly visionary in predicting the expanding nature of that power, and warning the viewer to be on guard for the future. Among the wonderful supporting players are Walter Matthau, Anthony Franciosa, and Lee Remick. The screenplay is by Budd Schulberg, based on his own short story, and is directed by Elia Kazan - known so well for “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “On the Waterfront” - at the height of his enormous directing skill. Len Simon will provide some background on the film before the screening and moderate a discussion after.
