Dear teen girls and parents:
Tonight we discussed the Women's March and the controversy surrounding it. We looked at a few different articles written by women from all over the political spectrum and discussed what they thought and what we think about Tamika Mallory and her support of Louis Farrakhan. We also talked about where we go from here in support of women's rights.
As a special treat, we invited the confirmands in to have dinner with us and hear what they (mostly Maya) thought about it. Later, we talked about confidence, waking up with power poses, and how we can "go through the 'beautiful' door." We also discussed how much "body talk" comes up in our conversations and how to pay attention to it. Wouldn't it be nice to compliment people for things they said or did instead of how they look and what they are wearing?
We will continue talking about confidence and friendship next week. Rock those power poses!
