Brotherhood Breakfast Lecture Series Featuring Jane Leavy

Sunday, January 10, 2021 26 Tevet 5781

10:00 AM - 11:00 AMZoom

Jane Leavy is the author of the critically acclaimed sports biographies  Sandy Koufax: A Lefty's Legacy,  The Last-Boy: Mickey Mantle and the End of America's Childhood,   Big-Fella: Babe Ruth and the World He Created and Squeeze-Play: A Novel, which Entertainment Weekly called “the best novel ever written about baseball.”   She was a trailblazing female sports journalist at The Washington Post from 1979 to1988, covering baseball, tennis, and the Olympics for the sports section and  writing features for the Style section about sports, politics, and pop culture, including, most memorably, a profile of Mugsy Bogues, the 5’3″ guard for the Washington Wizards, which was longer than he is tall.  Jane  lives in Washington DC where she is working on her next best-seller. She has some great stories to tell Temple Israel about the books she has written and the characters she has encountered in her stellar career. If you’re interested in New York sports heroes, and hearing a very unique perspective on where sports are today and where they might be going, join the Brotherhood on January 10th – and please register below.
