Shalom Kitta Bet Mishpahot.
This week in sanctuary we talked about daily miracles. We used the word NESS, miracle which is one of the four words on the dreidel. The children realized that many things their bodies do and they see around them are wonderful and that we can we grateful for these everyday miracles. Thanksgiving and Hannukah are wonderful times to have these dialogues with our children. We also heard presentations from our Ozrim, our classroom aides, about charities within the Jewish community. When we returned to class, we voted on how we wanted to direct our classroom money.. Our top two choices were an Israeli agency that trains Guide Dogs and a Jewish agency that helps those with cancer.. We will update you on the final decision.
This Hebrew month is Kislev, the third in the Jewish lunar calendar and the one that contains Hannukah.
At CJL we are promoting , "Kislev is for kindness". I have sent the children home with a list of good deed suggestions on a calendar. There is one suggested for each day. We went over some of these in class and the children were proud to say they had done 5,6 or even 10 of them.
OUR HOMEWORK is do to one more of these good deeds before we come back on the first day of Hannukah, and tell the class about it.
We learned the letter Vet which is the Bet without the Boo boo and played a game to review our letters,
Lamed, Tav, Shin, Resh, Bet, Vet and Dalet.
In Hebrew through movement we used the Nerot,(candles) to practice our verbs and we sang the Hannukah blessing: Baruch ata Adonai, Elohenu Melech Ha Olam, Asher Kiddishanu Be Mitzvotav, vetzevznu LeHadleek Ner, shell Hannukah.
We will tell the Hannukah story to each other when we meet again on December 2. Since we have two sessions of CJL during Hannukah this year, we will have our Temple celebration during the second one.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving,
I am grateful for my class of clever and adorable Kitta Bet Talmidim,(students),
