Summary |
We started this Yom Rishone, (Sunday) with prayer and a lovely reminder from Rabbi Pein that we can keep loved one close to us by wearing something they gave us.
We then practiced our song with the Cantor. The song is called Boee Kalah, welcoming the Shabbat Bride on Friday night. We will be singing this song at our March 1st Friday night service!!
Since there is no class before that, please look in your email for a clip of the song so that your children can rehearse before we take our place on the Bima. Also please look over the Pot Luck sign up. See you at 5:30.
We made Thank you notes for the food pantry and the children were able to tell those who missed our trip about their meaningful experience.
We reviewed some concepts about Shabbat. Since Shabbat is seen as a bride or a queen , we wrote stories about which guest Sabbat might look like when each of us welcomed him/her to the Shabbat table.
Our Shabbat looked like Einstein, family members and Taylor Swift among others.
We talked about what restful things we might do to celebrate Shabbat and the children thought a day without homework and with family and friends sounded great. We reviewed the blessings over the wine, candles and Challah. The word Callah, Bride and Malka, queen both have the letter Caf which was our letter of the day. Caf looks like a backwards C and has a cootie in it.
If you would like to review our letters, we have
Shin, Lamed, Taf, Bet, Vet, Nun, final Nun Mem, Final Mem, Gimel, Dalet, and Resh
We went to Hebrew Through Movement where we learned two new words: Liktov -to write and Likrow - to read.
We used our tush(marker), Eparon,(pencil) and Geer-(chalk) to illustrate Liktov on a neyar,(paper).
Then we used Sefer, sefarim,(book, books), to read, Likrow.
Kol hacavod to Ariela who has everyone moving and learning!!
Cavod which means respect and Kol which means all is giving Ariela the kudos due to her for her engaging class, but they are also two new words that start with our letter of the day, Kaf.
Thanks very much to Max for being the first one to put a cleaning supply in the big orange box in our classroom for our next donation to the food pantry. We will be sending that along with the beautiful thank you notes the children created. Remember tyo send along items for our donation box as you spring clean or supermarket shop.
IMPORTANT NEWS:
The children got their Miss Chocolate packet. Please join us in this fundraiser that offers delicious Kosher to Passover treats and helps the Temple.
Shavuah Tov,
Have a good week,
