Summary |
Firstly, it was lovely to see so many of you at our Friday night service. It was wonderful to share a meal and hear the children sing out "Boee Kalah" and the "shema".
As an added bonus it was Jack's sister's bat mitzvah weekend and we wish him and his family a big Mazel Tov!
The Friday night service at Temple Israel is always meaningful and kid friendly!
This Yom Rishone, (Sunday), we started in sanctuary where we sang Barechu, the shma, the tefila, and oseh shalom.
Rabbi Pein told us a story about a little girl who brought flowers as her special gift to the sanctuary, and asked us to think about what we could do to make our synagogue and community more beautiful and welcoming.
We made family trees. After we discussed that we all have the same forefathers, and fore-mothers (someone said there aren't four of each!), we put Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebecca, Jacob, Leah, and Rachel on the top of our family tree and added on our own MISHPAHAH, family, members. The children were delighted that we are all related!!We learned the words:
Abba-dad
Ema-mom
Ach-brother
Achot-sister
Dod-Uncle
Doda- Aunt
Ben-Son
Bat-daughter
Sabbah- grandpa
Savta- grandma
Ben dod- boy cousin
Bat dod-girl cousin
Kelev-dog
Hatool- cat
Dagim-fish
Come and see our family trees hanging in the classroom.
We learned some Purim songs with the cantor. Hope you got the fliers about the Purim festivities on March !7. Children are allowed to invite friends!!
We went to Hebrew Through Movement. The children used Raashanim, (noisemakers) to prepare for Purim! Todah, Morah Ariela, who gets right on the ritzpah, floor, with the children!!
This coming week, there will be a social for our class and Gan Alef immediately after school. The children will play Gaga and eat pizza. The cost is 10 dollars. Hope you all can make it. I will send out the name of the point person later if you have more questions.
Shavuah Tov,
Morah Devorah
