Shalom to all my sleepyheads! We missed you this week at CJL!
Hope everyone is getting used to our new time schedule.
This week at CJL we started at sanctuary and sang Purim songs. There are four mitzvot of Purim-can you name them? This song will help you remember!
Next week please feel free to send your child in costume,( and wear costumes yourselves), when you join us for the Purim celebrations! We would love to have you earlier for the Purim songs but please make plans to accompany your child at the Purim carnival.
This week we had a lot of fun putting on a play about our forefather Abraham and the stand he made against idols in his father, Terach's, idol shop.
This is our Jewish story about the first person to figure out and create a religion about monotheism.
This is the amazing story behind Shma Yisrael Adonai Elohenu, Adonai Ehad!
The students were so proud of our play, they asked to put it on for Rabbi Jaech and the Kitta Gan and Alef class.
In Hebrew through movement we learned the word, "LEHAREESH" and boy did we follow that vocabulary.
It means to make noise and we made a lot with our raashanim,(noisemakers). We also put on MASECHOT, masks and generally had some Purim fun.
Todah Rabbah Ariela, who makes learning Hebrew so much fun!
Rabbi Jaech read us a story about Purim. It was a Purim take on the three little pigs with the wolf winding up a better "person".
She reminded us that, as with all Jewish holidays, kindness and helping others is a major theme.
We finished off with a review of our letters and the words for members of our Mishpaha: family: ABBA, EMA, ACH, ACHOT, SABBAH, SAVTAH, DOD,DODA, BEN DOD, BAT DOD, BEN< BAT, KELEV, HATOOL, DAG, and TZIPOR. See which ones your children can translate!
Please remember our extra Tzedakah project as you begin to spring clean. Any cutlery, pots and pans , linen etc and any new cleaning products can go in the box we are preparing for the Pleasantville food pantry. Let's try to each bring something.
Looking forward to seeing y'all on Purim,
Shavuah Tov,
Morah Devorah
