Shalom Kitah Dalet Parent,
Our pre-Simhat Torah Ivrit sessions yesterday evening were only 25-min but covered a lot opf ground in a fun way. First, we reviewed the most recently learned letters: י, ה, ד, ח, and vowels וּ and ִ . New letters were not introduced, given the too-short time we had to work with. However, we did a focused vowel review using some memory aids I’ve learned from other teachers or come up with myself. These aids make use of pictures and phrases that could help students remember the sounds of the various vowel shapes. Next time we meet (Oct. 14) I’ll give these out on a sheet.
Since there was no new assignment given, I am asking students to keep practicing the reading pages in the last assignment. These can be found in the CJL section of the TINW webpage, under Kitah Dalet. There’s no need for students to re-do the written assignment.
The second part of the session was devoted to Hebrew Through Movement (HTM). After a review of commands and adverbs they already knew, we moved ahead with some new nouns and smaller connecting words. It was really fun to watch the students spinning to the door, jumping to the blackboard and sitting on the desks! They seemed to enjoy this process, as well.
Please remember that there will be no CJL next Sunday (Oct. 7) in recognition of Columbus Day weekend. Have a wonderful mini-break!

L’shalom,
Lane Chazdon
Dear Kitah Dalet families,
Our special Sunday evening class was filled with some creative and fun learning experiences.
The class made a beautiful mural depicting a parsha from the Book of Exodus. They drew the Israelites camped at the bottom of Mount Sinai (with a unicorn!) and Moses climbing to the top to receive the Ten Commandments. The mountain was covered with clouds and lightening strikes! After a huge community dinner, our mural was on display for all to see. The Torah was completely unfurled in the Oneg room and we sang and danced after hearing the Torah chanted in celebration of Simchat Torah. Hag Sameakh to all and I look forward to seeing the students in 2 weeks after our break next Sunday.
b'shalom,
Betsy Deckert
