Dear parents of the 8th and 9th graders:
Tonight we continued working on our Prism projects. By now, everyone has pretty much decided on their main area of focus, and some students have already begun creating their “love your neighbor” presentations. We hope that they will create their ideas for projects not only for the temple, but also be motivated to see them through to fruition for themselves as well, as a result of this work.
Rabbi Pein and I have changed the date of the presentations to November 7 instead of the 14th, and the students promised that they would be able to create them in the time allotted. Rabbi Jaech will make herself available for us next week for temple-related questions that they all may have, i.e. to ask what the temple is doing in different areas. Please have your child prepare questions to ask the rabbi regarding his/her project, if applicable.
We also had a music session with our new cantor, Lauren Fogelman, along with the 10th grade confirmands. Cantor Lauren taught us a niggun and discussed the power of music without words. She also taught us “Olam Chesed Yibane (we will create a world of kindness/love),” which is both a niggun and a song with words, and is directly related to our “Love Your Neighbor” theme.
Kol tuv, shavua tov, Morah Judy
P.S. And thank you, as always, for lending us your menschy teens on Wednesday nights. I love working with them.
