5th Shabbat Kaddish & Lecture
Friday, October 29, 2021 • 23 Cheshvan 5782
7:30 PM - 8:30 PMSanctuaryPlease join us for a 5th Shabbat lecture featuring Yuri Radzievsky, an immigrant from the former USSR, who will be speaking about escaping communism and antisemitism and finding great success in America. Yuri and Anna Radzievsky, Yana Fomin’s parents (our Director of Community Engagement) have an American story that begins in 1973 during the height of communism. It is a tale of escaping the Soviet Union, communism, and antisemitism. Life changing events landed them in the United States with a young child and not a penny in their pockets. This husband-and-wife team, against all odds, found great success in a land that was as foreign to them as landing on the moon. Without one word of English and no knowledge of American customs, they built an advertising empire from the ground up. Learn how Yuri Radzievsky and his wife Anna survived a most difficult and dangerous immigration from the Soviet Union during a time when the iron curtain was at its strongest. Yuri will be speaking about their plight to find freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of enterprise, and most importantly freedom to be Jewish.
All in-person attendees must be vaccinated.
Please note, this lecture and discussion will be live-streamed.
