Leslie Gordon, CEO of Feeding Westchester & Douglass DeCandia, on Community Gardens Providing Food Pantries with Produce (click here for event flyer)
Wednesday, May 14
7:00 PM
TINW's sisterhood, as part of the interfaith Empowering Women group, is working with Feeding Westchester's food Backpack Program to be assembled and packed in bags at our May 14th program on food insecurity in Westchester. The bags will be distributed by a nearby school to children in need.
60,000 children in Westchester County live in poverty low enough to federally qualify them to receive free or reduced-price school lunch. This is equivalent to one out of every three school children in the county – a staggering statistic. And school meals may be the only meals these children eat. Many go hungry over the weekend and when school is not in session. But we can help.
