Brotherhood Breakfast: Franklin D. Roosevelt - A Discussion of his Life, Presidency & Enduring Legacy
Sunday, January 8, 2023 • 15 Tevet 5783
10:00 AM - 11:30 AMToday we live in a world Franklin Delano Roosevelt was instrumental in creating. FDR led the nation in our struggle to recover from the Great Depression and in so doing crafted a new role for the federal government in our economy and lives. He was the architect of the allied nation’s victory over the forces of fascism in World War II. His vision for post-war cooperation led to the creation of the United Nations. There is much to learn from FDR’s courageous and decisive actions as our president for 12 years. And, of course, his lengthy presidency during tumultuous times is not without controversies which should be discussed as well. Establishing Presidential Libraries was FDR’s idea and his, in nearby Hyde Park, was the very first.
Temple Israel is delighted to welcome Jeffrey Urbin, the Frankin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum’s award winning Director of Education for a full discussion of the historic FDR presidency. Jeff will guide us through the highlights of the FDR years, talk about FDR’s legacy, describe the resources, materials and exhibits available to Library and Museum visitors and answer your questions about this remarkable man who served the nation during a most critical era in U.S. history. We look forward to a great morning with Jeff Urbin. Everyone in the TINW family is welcome! Please register below.
