Brotherhood Breakfast Lecture Featuring Eddie Pleasant
Sunday, May 9, 2021 • 27 Iyar 5781
9:30 AM - 10:30 AMEdward Pleasant is recognized as one of the most versatile performers of his generation, as we all know from the display of his great talents at Temple Israel. Acclaimed in both opera and musical theater, Eddie has distinguished himself as a gifted actor with brilliant comic timing and a luscious baritone voice. He first came to Temple Israel in 1991 and has been a fixture during the High Holidays ever since. Eddie first served as bass soloist in the Temple professional quartet and then was asked in 2008 to take the helm of Hallel b’Shir, the adult choir. Eddie also enjoys working with other vocal ensembles at Temple Israel, including the Glee Club, Selah and the Brotherhood Choir, of which he is a proud honorary member. Eddie looks forward to talking about his unique American journey. It’s a great story, including growing up in Texas, how music became so central to him, the challenges and triumphs pursuing a professional performing career, his association with Temple Israel and how his connection to Judaism through the Temple has shaped his views on music and life. You’ll hear it all straight from Eddie on May 9th !
