Finance Committee
Finance committee
The Finance Committee, mandated in Article IX of the By-Laws, serves as an advisory body to the Temple Board. The committee works closely with the Treasurer and Financial Administrator to monitor the current budget, and facilitates the development and preparation of the new annual budget. These functions are both basic and critically important to help ensure the financial stability of TINW.
However, the budget is only a guideline; the committee revises projections based on updated data as well as other factors (i.e., economic trends). We have found that conservative spending and bridled wishful thinking generally lead to positive results, and help mitigate the impact of unanticipated expenses and/or revenue shortfalls.
The committee also has subcommittees that manage investments and planned giving.
If all of the above sounds too “dry” or has led you into a somnolent state, the committee is actually composed of a small group of fun congregants who bring diverse backgrounds and experiences to the table.
If you have interest and/or a PhD in Temple Finances, please contact the Temple office.
