Master Plan Update and 2026 Renovations

On November 17, 2025, Temple leadership, and KG+D Architects held an information session for the congregation regarding the Temple’s master plan and future design planning.

  • The master plan is not a specific design, but can serve as a visual road map for the redesign and relocation of Temple spaces based on building requirements and user needs.
  • As you may recall, creating a plan for the future needs of our building was the next step after the sale of the Yorktown property generated funds for building improvements.
  • In addition, State grant funds have been awarded to the Temple for necessary security upgrades.

An architecture firm was chosen through a public request for proposals to assist the Temple with this process. KG+D Architect’s experience with not for profit, religious, and other public building design inspired their selection from a field of many proposals.

The meeting on Monday marked the culmination of many months of work.  With a focus on our first-floor needs, KG+D created a master plan based on feedback from many of the Temple’s user groups including;

  • Brotherhood and Sisterhood
  • Clergy
  • CJL Parents
  • Ritual Committee
  • Music and Educational leadership; and,
  • Staff

With this map, the Temple is able to determine a first set of priorities and begin to determine how future phases might be realized.

Utilizing a portion of the Yorktown property sale proceeds and State grant funds, the Temple has begun design for the first phase of renovations which will include lobby and security upgrades along with bathroom improvements.

Upgrades will include:

  • a new lobby design
  • finishes and furniture
  • secure vestibules at each entrance
  • bollards and other improvements to the upper parking lot entrance
  • an upgraded alarm system and first-floor window security
  • new women and men’s bathrooms and a separate bathroom for the daycare use.

The Temple has engaged DHI Construction to work alongside KG+D Architects during design to provide construction costs, scheduling and alternatives as we proceed.

Temple leadership will return to the congregation in the Spring for approval to proceed with a first phase of construction over the summer months in order to minimize disruption.

The Temple’s leadership will also initiate planning efforts in the Spring for a capital campaign to realize a next phase of Sanctuary and Oneg improvements.
